Hello fellow capsuleers,

I started playing EvE Online when it first came out. Moneo was my first character and has been the only one (beside a dummy char for my corp) to this day. He is Amarr, a soldier.

The first few weeks in EvE were a pain in the butt. I quit after two months or so. There wasn't much to do and only a hand full pilots roaming space. Maybe one of you can remember the old hud with the 3D-radar-sphere in the corner. Yep, those were the times. There was just a single tutorial which took you a few minutes to complete: destroy a dummy, mine an asteroid and... I guess that was it. The manual that came with the game was as cryptic as the game itself back then.

Since then I came back and left EvE several times. And each time I started somewhere else in New Eden, depending on the corp I was in at the time and the people I was playing with. After a few years I grew tired of having to say goodbye to my assets every time I logged back in after a couple of months, because the political situation had changed in the meanwhile and I was podded back to high sec. I have been in empire space since then, skilling and flying missions. One of my biggest mistakes was freezing my account whenever I wanted to take a break. Otherwise Moneo would now be one of the chars with the most skillpoints in New Eden. EvE is the only game that is really worth paying for even if you are not currently playing. It is constantly evolving, thus never rendering itself obsolete or its place being taken over by far more advanced games. I really think that I will be accompanying this game for many years to come, maybe even decades, who knows.

Being a computer scientist and a software developer I bear a lot of respect for the guys at CCP. They made an excellent idea become reality, reaching new grounds in the world of MMOs. EvE is not perfect, but the most interesting and most promising MMO of our times, regarding the technical aspects. Even while not playing for months, I kept track of the patches, expansions and fan fests, ever wondering what those crazy icelanders are up to.

Moneo is currently stationed in Kador, flying lvl IV missions for the Imperial Navy, pushing standings. My next goal is doing the lvl IV epic arc and after that maybe gathering some EvE pilots I know from work and RL to become experts in wormhole exploitation. Doing lvl IV missions in my tech II fitted Abaddon is not much of a thrill, and I am looking forward to new challenges besides hardcore PvP in 0.0. Seen it, been there. But I just do not have the time for it. And getting involved in all those politics again... maybe in 40 years, when I have retired from work and EvE has become the MMO of the century.

This blog is supposed to become some sort of diary for Moneo. I am not a blogger, not a big writer. And since I deleted my first blog about Moneo, when I was writing about fleet battles ( I was in G-Alliance when we were waging war against the south.), which is a pity, I really want to keep track this time, being able to look back at some sort of development and story later on.
